Diagnosis and management of hepatic disorders in the cat

The numerous hepatic disease of the cat and present chal lenges to the small animal practitioner in diagnosis and management. The most common presenting clinical signs of feline hepatic diseases are jaundice and ascites, but these signs can be associated with disease in other systems, and the history and presenting abnormalities in cats with liver disease are often vague and non-specific. Management of the different hepatic diseases in the cat also varies considerably, according to specific aetiology, adding to the importance of accurate diagnosis.
