Veterinary aspects of deer management 2: Disease

In the early days of deer farming the problems were predictably associated with inappropriate management of the stock. As management improves we enter the more interesting veterinary phases with a wider variety of less frequently occurring conditions which afford a greater challenge to the practitioner. Both from the public health point of view and from the growing importance of the import and export trade in live deer and venison, these diseases command a wider significance.
