PRACTICE MANAGEMENT

CLIENT RELATIONS

Child's play? Accommodating children in the practice

Mike Dale

CHILDREN are a fact of life and regularly pop up in the consulting room. How they impact on the quality of your consultation depends partly on their behaviour and the parental influence. It is also determined by your attitude towards them, which may in turn be influenced by the specific role they may be fulfilling at the time, says Mike Dale. Here, he offers some guidance and observations for making the consultation a positive experience for all involved, whatever the circumstances.

Mike Dale graduated from Cambridge in 1975. He has been in small animal practice for 17 years, having originally spent 15 years in mixed practice, and works at the Fromus Veterinary Group in Saxmundham, Suffolk. He holds the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society's certificate in veterinary acupuncture.
