PRACTICE MANAGEMENT

EMPLOYMENT

Your employment contract – are there any devils in the detail?

Matthew Clayton

YOU'VE sent in your CV, had an interview and been offered the job; all that is left for you to do is to sign the contract. However, you may be unsure about what to look for in a contract and what some of the specific terms mean, particularly if this is your first post. Matthew Clayton gives some pointers and, for the benefit of employer and employee alike, details what should, and should not, be included in a contract of employment.

Matthew Clayton qualified in 1996 as a solicitor and joined Rickerbys Solicitors in Cheltenham as an associate in 2002, where he is now a partner specialising in employment law. He has regularly led seminars for the Veterinary Practice Management Association, among other business organisations.
