Surgery of the lower urinary tract in dogs: 2. Urethral surgery

Victoria Lipscomb

PART 1 of this article, published in the last issue (November/December 2003, pp 597-605), discussed the principles and preoperative management relating to surgery of the lower urinary tract and described techniques commonly used in bladder surgery. This article discusses surgical techniques used in the management of urethral disorders, as well as the postoperative management of the lower urinary tract surgery patient. It goes on to consider specific surgical diseases of the bladder and urethra to illustrate the principles and techniques covered in the two articles.
