OVER the past nine years, Genusxpress (formerly Vet Drug) has offered an annual prize for the veterinary student who, in the opinion of his or her peers, has made the greatest contribution to student life. This new series of articles, to be continued in the next few issues, catches up with a number of past 'students of the year' to see how that energy and drive has been channelled into their early careers. The first author, Sharon Redrobe, the winner in 1994, describes how she set about pursuing her ambition to become a zoo vet. On page 624, Adam Durkin, the 1995 prizewinner, whose career path has taken a more conventional route, reflects on the steep learning curve that he has had to negotiate, as well as some of the changes he has witnessed in general practice.
