WHO is entitled to the national minimum wage (NMW) of £3.60 per hour, to whom can the lower hourly rates of £3.20 and £3.00 be paid, and who is not entitled to the NMW? How does the provision of accommodation affect the NMW rate and does an employee on call need to be paid the NMW? Here, Reg Lloyd answers some common questions relating to the National Minimum Wage Act 1998, and explains its implications for veterinary practice, based on the law as it stands at present.
