JO STONEHEWER

URINARY tenesmus is defined as ineffectual and painful straining at urination. It can be a sign of many disorders, ranging from a mild bacterial cystitis through to a potentially life-threatening urethral obstruction. This article discusses those conditions affecting the dog which result in straining to urinate.
