THIS is the second of two articles describing the evaluation of cardiac murmurs. Part 1, published in the September issue, concentrated on identifying the source of a murmur and assessing its effects by clinical examination. Here, the value of echocardiography for both diagnostic and prognostic purposes is discussed.
