Establishing your status as self-employed

DEREK THORPE

A SELF-EMPLOYED person provides a contract for services in contrast to an employed person who provides a contract of services (which would be under the control and direction of an employer). This distinction is one which is often confused but it is essential that it is understood because classifying somebody incorrectly could prove very costly for an employer.
